Quiver

My boyfriend is a fine

slow dancer. He holds me

like I’m Tang dynasty china,

I can feel him quivering.

At midnight, when the doors close,

my Father collects us.

We drive home, in our beautiful

bubble of silence. I nestle

into my boyfriend’s shoulder.

Neither of us mentions

the neat bald man

who’s been following us.
